Nasal Dermatitides

Both of these dogs have similar clinical signs but require different treatment regimes

When dogs present in this way, I am keen to biopsy almost immediately. As a dermatologist, I often see these dogs after they have received treatment , often without success. They may have received the correct treatment but not for long enough or the cause may still be present.

Once the biopsy is taken, antibiotics and steroids may be given. Usually I countenance against giving steroids until a diagnosis is given but 2-3 days whilst awaiting results will be OK.
