World Congress of Veterinary Dermatology in Hong Kong

Last November I was lucky enough to spend 4 days at the 6th world congress of veterinary dermatology.

There were lectures on all areas of dermatology including a feline and equine stream.

The world congress happens every 4 years and in 2012 it will be held in Vancouver.

Highlights of the congress included lectures on bacterial skin disease, parasitology, diseases of the claw and footpad, approaches to otitis and immune mediated disease.

Top tips included the use of L phenylalanine in the treatment of vitiligo and dermoscent in the treatment of seborrhoeic skin disease.

On April 1st the British Veterinary Dermatology Study Group is holding a day on alopecia with speakers including Rosario Cerundolo and Sonya Bettenay at the ICC in Birmingham. Please visit their website for further details
